Orchid-scented
Orchid scent as it suggested in its name is the scent of Orchid. The fragrance is elegant and pure, but also quite subtle. It is said Orchid scent is the most privileged scent, only find in ancient tea trees, especially Jing Mai tea with strong Orchid scent.
Scent of Lotus leaf
Similar to the scent of the lotus leaf, newly picked “raw” Pu-erh tea has a strong aroma of green leaves. After sitting the Pu-erh for an appropriate time, the scent of green leaves will gradually fade. The scent of lotus leaf will naturally emerge. The light fragrance of lotus leaf enters into the nasal cavity through the palate. It is indeed a slowly appeared charm.
Flower fragrance
The flower fragrance is a type of aromas that is hard to the category. Unlike the previously mentioned two kinds of aromas with distinct characteristics, it more like an unknown flower, which seems exist but you cannot prove. In the world of gorgeous and colorful flowers, there are thousands of unidentified flowers. So I can only category her to flower fragrance. Like Jing Mai Tea, the unique scent of Jiang Mai tea is formed because the tea trees are surrounded by various flowers, grass and trees.
Honey flavor
The flavor is similar to the honey flavor. On Jing Mai Mountain, there is a tree with bee nests. The Pu-erh tea grows on it has a delightful flavor of honey.
Camphor-scented
Commonly find in raw teas that have been kept for a relatively long time, which smells like camphor with the sense of stillness and nature. The camphor scent mixed with the flavor of flower and wood makes a pleasuring fragrance. The “ripe” Pu-erh tea with camphor scent not only gives a smooth and comfort taste but also enable a very enjoyable comfort from the flavor filled oral and nasal cavities.
Herb-scented
Herb scent is what we called the smell of Chinese medicine, like the aroma people smells when they are inside the drugstore. In fact, it is the smell of plants that has been sitting there for too long. Because herb is also a plant, after leaving in the air for too long, it will produce similar fragrance naturally.
Ginseng-scented
Similar to the ginseng scent, there are similar elements in the aromas of Pu-erh tea and Ginseng. Such as the palmitic acid with the flavor of earth and the farnesene with the smell of wood can be found in fragrant of ginseng. Besides these elements, the gingsen scent in Pu-erh tea also has the part fragrance of wood and sweetness.
Wood-scented
Wood-scented is the most commonly seen aromas among Pu-erh tea, especially ripe Pu-erh tea. The Pu-erh processed by some selected microbial have the very prominent scent of wood. Unlike flower-scented or honey-scented, wood-scented Pu-erh teas enable the gentle and soft feelings. It is the scent that benefits the quality of the Pu-erh tea.
Scent of age
The scent of age seems to be more taste than an aroma. Maybe it is the trail to prove the existence, the scent of time. But often people mistakes it as the musty smell without realizing the musty smell will give an uncomfortable experience to the oral cavity. It would not be the scent of age.
