This teapot with side handle is made of authentic Zisha clay from Yixing, China. It’s a Duanni style with a wood handle for easy pouring.

Duanni is a broad category of mineral-rich clays that expert craftspersons use to make traditional teaware. It has a high mineral composition that produces a strong, durable teapot after firing. These minerals also soften some of the bitter notes of the tea, and despite being highly porous, it has incredible heat retention properties.

Duanni teapots absorb oils from tea, essentially seasoning them like you would a cast-iron wok. The more you use it, the more aromatic oils it absorbs.
