Description
Handmade Tenmoku tea cup by a Taiwanese pottery master. It is a prime example of the blue-glazed Jianzhan style, an effect that expert craftspersons achieve using an iron-rich clay and glaze, combined with extremely high firing temperatures.
The distinctive pattern on the cup forms during firing and varies based on its position in the kiln. It means that every cup is slightly different.
It’s an attractive piece suitable for any collection, but it’s also practical.
The thick glaze, as well as the mineral composition of the local clay, create exceptional insulation. The tea stays at optimal brewing temperature as you drink. Those minerals also interact with the tea, softening bitter compounds.
At 100ml, this teacup is suitable for single servings of premium teas.
