Tibetan Brick Tea includes various varieties produced throughout Sichuan and Hunan. Sichuan Province historically produced the most popular brick tea for Tibet, especially from the 1970s to the early 2000s, before production largely halted in the region.

Since the early 2000s, Hunan Province has become the primary producer of Tibetan Tea. This Dark Tea variety, known as “Heicha,” offers a range of taste and flavor profiles, similar to Black and Oolong teas. However, not all teas deliver the same quality; the taste can vary significantly. Building a solid relationship and trust with Hunan tea producers is essential to secure authentically flavored Tibetan Tea, particularly in brick form.
