Tibetan Tea is also as a form of Hei Cha also known as Dark Tea. It contains yellow-gold spores known as Golden Flowers. Basically, it’s a fungus that forms during the fermentation process and helps to transform the tea as it ages. This probiotic imparts a uniquely woody flavor into the tea, while also giving it many sweet and earthy notes.
To brew Fuzhaun, simply break off about 3 to 5 grams and then add the leaves to a teapot. Pour over boiling water and discard to wake up the tea. You can then add more boiling water before allowing the tea to steep for up to 60 seconds and serving.
You can steep the leaves multiple times without sacrificing much of the earthy, sweet, honeyed flavors. However, you should increase the steeping time for each subsequent brew. Ten seconds of additional steeping should suffice, and will ensure each successive brew is as strong as the last.
