This tea consists of young tea buds harvested at the earliest stage and minimally processed. The buds, typically unopened, are dried in the sun to create a tea distinct from green, oolong, black, or fermented teas.

While fermented teas like Puerh represent the final stage of tea production, white tea marks the beginning. It undergoes minimal oxidation, unlike black tea, and avoids fermentation seen in dark teas. This minimal handling delivers the freshest and cleanest tea you can buy. The flavor of white tea is perhaps more comparable to green tea than black, oolong, and fermented varieties. However, just like those other teas, white tea has a flavor profile and complexity all of its own, and this varies greatly depending on everything from the growing region to the harvesting and production method.

This collection features flavors ranging from “creamy” to “sweet,” depending on the variety. The finest white teas follow a strict production process. Harvesters carefully select buds that exhibit the finest hairs for the best quality. These hairs are known as trichomes. The plant creates them to protect the leaves, but they also contain a high concentration of amino acids and other flavor-enhancing compounds. Typically, the greater the concentration of hairs, the better the tea. After all, this is where the intense and complex flavors come from.
