Description
Cha Gao is an ancient style of Puerh production. Producers in Yunnan, China, extract liquid from Puerh tea to create a tea resin. They then dry and shape the resin into tea balls. The end result is a very strong and potent resin, one that contains a high concentration of Puerh tea compounds.
To make Puerh tea from Cha Cao, simply dissolve the paste in hot water. The compact size of this tea resin means you can take it with you wherever you go. It’s handy for enjoying high-quality Puerh tea on the go, as you only need hot water.
Historically, Cha Gao was the reserve of China’s elite, as the methods used to create the resin were long, complicated, and laborious. These traditional methods were first used over 1,000 years ago, and artisans perfected them during the Qing Dynasty.
Today, modern machinery simplifies the production process.
To brew Puerh using our Cha Gao Puerh Tea Resin, first unwrap one of the pieces and place it in a cup. Add between 8 and 12 ounces of hot water (195–205°F), and stir until the resin has fully dissolved.
You can adjust the strength of the tea by adding more or less water, as opposed to using another piece of resin. If you want a strong Puerh, use just 8 ounces or less of water. If you want a weaker tea, add up to 12.
