Description

The finest Puerh Tea plucked from old, uncultivated trees grown at altitude in the Yunnan Province. After harvesting, tea masters carefully wither and roast the tea leaves before drying them in the sun. The tea then undergoes an ageing process that transforms the astringent notes into a complex flavor profile. The longer it ages, the more complex those flavors become. Our Wild Tree Puerh Tea has been aging since 2010, giving it well over a decade to transform into a deliciously complex tea.

The vast majority of the world’s tea comes from cultivated plants. Farmers plant them, tend them, and harvest them on agricultural estates across China, India, Taiwan, and other major tea-growing regions. But there are still millions of wild tea trees, especially in China. Many of these trees are over a century old. Some are thousands of years old, predating the Chinese Imperial Age. Wild Tree Puerh Tea, therefore, gives you a taste of something that cultivated varieties can’t match. It’s history in a teacup.

The young leaves from these wild trees have bitter, astringent flavors. They are an acquired taste. However, after withering, oxidation, and fermentation, those flavors transform. Following years of ageing, the flavors change even more. Initially, Wild Tree Puerh Tea is grassy, floral, and sharp. But aged Wild Tree Puerh Tea is complex, fruity, and woody, with notes of smoke, pipe tobacco, stone fruits, leather, and cinnamon.
