The name and unique appearance of this Black Tea stem from its young, golden-coloured buds. Tea farmers carefully select these tender buds in the early spring. The yield is very low, but the end product is unlike any other black tea.

After harvesting, tea masters wither the leaves to remove moisture and oxidize them slightly. They then roll, ferment, and dry the leaves. The process is the same as for any other black tea, and it results in similar distinctive malty, fruity flavors.
