Description
Authentic Yixing Teapot made with purple clay, also known as Zini. A Chinese Yixing pottery master makes all of our Yixing Zisha Teapots by hand. They impart years of expertise passed down over generations into traditional teaware.
These 150ml teapots are crafted using authentic red purple clay.
These teapots begin life in the Huanglong Mountain in Yixing. The clay in this region formed naturally between 350 and 400 million years ago. It’s rich in various minerals, including iron and quartz, and these create a strong, stable structure when fired.
Furthermore, the clay is easy to work by a skilled hand. Experts can craft it into various intricate shapes without damaging the integrity of the final piece. It’s also highly porous, and this helps to soften some of the bitter compounds of tea. It also retains a little flavor from every brew.
The more you use the pot, the more aromas and flavors it absorbs. Over time, those compounds will give every pot of tea more balance and complexity. It’s clean, and it’s completely safe to use; you’re basically just seasoning the pot like you would season a steel or cast iron wok.
The pot doesn’t care which type of tea you drink. It works with all types, from heavily roasted oolongs to deep and intense black teas. However, it reacts different to each type of tea.
With Puerh tea, for example, its structure traps the heat and may bring out more of the tea’s woody, earthy flavors, while reducing astringency. If you enjoy premium white tea, you may find that it tastes a little sweeter and more well-rounded, without losing any of the tea’s nuanced flavors.
