Young Tieluohan Oolong Tea has strong mineral flavors. It’s medicinal. Sharp. Astringent. During the aging process, many of those flavors transform. The mineral notes lose their sharpness and become more rounded. The tea tastes sweeter and less medicinal. It develops notes of dried fruits and honey, with an unmistakable sweetness.
Aged Tieluohan tea also has a silky, creamy mouthfeel.
The longer the aging process, the more complex those flavors become.
Storage conditions are key to ensuring an optimal aging process. The tea needs room to breathe and mature. Our Aged Tieluohan was dry stored in Hong Kong soon after production. The conditions were carefully monitored over the years, and the result is a mature Tieluohan that has had over four decades to round off those sharper, medicinal flavors while maintaining some classic Wuyi flavors.
