First produced in the 1950s, Hong Yin Red Mark Raw Puerh Tea is an iconic and highly sought-after tea that has seen numerous homages over the years. These are all collectible, particularly the variety seen in this selection.
The name stems from its packaging, which features a literal “red mark”, but it’s the unique flavor profile that makes it such a prized tea among collectors. There is very little bitterness here. It’s sweet. It’s earthy. And it’s complex. It delivers notes of strong, wild forest honey with a touch of smoke and camphor.
Incidentally, although the red mark is now iconic, it was born out of printing limitations. It dates back to the 1950s, a period when the CNNP directed all major tea factories in the country and placed its branding on their products.
