Tong Qing Puerh carries the traditions and histories of fermented tea production, stemming from a tea house that dates back several centuries. It all begins with the harvest, with pickers selecting the finest buds and upper leaves. They then spread the leaves on bamboo mats, encouraging the release of volatile oils while starting the oxidation process.
The next step is to fire the leaves, halting oxidation before rolling, drying, and steaming the leaves. At this point, the tea is ready for aging, and this step is just as crucial as anything that went before.
Producers ensure the tea can “breathe”, while ensuring it remains in a controlled environment. Our Tong Qing Puerh began this process way back in 2000. In essence, pickers were selecting those delicate buds and leaves just a few months into the new Millennium, and now, over two decades later, its lifecycle is complete.
