Tibetan Tea has evolved over the years. Its most familiar taste originates as a Hei Cha from Yan An in Sichuan, China. The area was previously known as a border tea town. The Sichuan factory where this production comes from is no longer in existence. Since then this categroy now includes certain Hei Cha varieties from Hunan province at large. The main difference from calling Hei Cha the same as tea from Tibet is the exception of Liu Bao and Liu An cultivars.
Unlike many of our aged tea products, this one will no longer be in existence when it is gone. Many other tea varieties from factories or areas dating back decades still have warehouses and past supply. That is not the case for this tea, making it even more rare.
I was introduced to Qiful teas by a friend who had purchased a variety pack. I initially tried the light oolong tea and loved it. While I was searching the website, I was intrigued by the Tibetan tea. I purchased some and it is fantastic. It has a mild, calming flavor that cannot be over-steeped. It is a perfect treat for an afternoon tea. I will absolutely be getting more! I am thrilled to finally have a tea company where I can find high quality traditional teas! Very excited to explore some more of Qiful’s other tea options.
