Fuzhuan Tea
Fuzhuan tea, also known as fu tea or fu brick, originates from Hunan and Sichuan Provinces. Unlike Puer, which ferments in loose leaf form, Fuzhuan is compressed into a brick shape before fermentation. This process creates distinct flavors, including mild sweetness with notes of wood, straw, and herbs. As it ages, the tea develops deeper flavors with hints of dried fig and candied plum. This results in a thicker mouthfeel and longer-lasting aftertaste.
Fuzhuan has gained popularity across Asia, especially in Taiwan, Tibet, and Mongolia. Available in various brick sizes, the quality often correlates with size—larger bricks are generally more affordable but lower in quality. Brick sizes range from a few hundred grams to 2 kg, offering options for both new tea drinkers and seasoned aficionados. Fuzhuan delivers a unique and enjoyable fermented tea experience.
